TWF and BAE Systems team up to offer welding scholarships

BAE Systems, Inc., in collaboration with the Trades Workforce Foundation, offers the BAE Systems, Inc. – Trades Workforce Foundation Scholarship to support students pursuing certification in skilled trade fields, particularly in welding. BAE Systems, a global defense company, emphasizes its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to create career pathways for talent across various levels. Trades Workforce Foundation and BAE Systems have very similar missions in that both are centered on being of service to people.

 

Applicants must meet criteria such as good academic standing, full-time enrollment, financial need, U.S. residency, reside in the Hampton Roads area, be enrolled at Tidewater Tech, and in pursuit of a certificate in Combination Welding and/or Combination Maritime Welding. Preferences are given to underrepresented groups in welding, veterans, and individuals with financial need. The application process includes a personal statement, reference, and financial need statement. The selection committee, led by Trades Workforce Foundation, awards four $2,500 scholarships annually, directly paying the academic institution for tuition, fees, books, or supplies.
